Change in DGT regulations: Goodbye to emergency triangles on motorways and highways

Replace the Emergency Triangles with the Approved V16 Light

The DGT modifies the regulations and eliminates the obligation of emergency triangles on motorways and highways

The announcement made by the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has caused a great stir: from July 1, 2023, the use of emergency triangles on motorways and highways in Spain will no longer be mandatory, except in certain circumstances. This measure aims to avoid the risks associated with getting out of the vehicle in the middle of a high-speed road to place the triangles. However, there is a safe and efficient alternative that is gaining prominence: the signaling device or V16 Light that we offer in our Hero Driver LED brand, developed by Ryme Automotive.

In the past, when drivers suffered a breakdown or emergency in their vehicles, they had to get out of the car, open the trunk and walk along the hard shoulder to place the emergency triangles. This practice represented an obvious danger, as it increased the risk of being run over. According to the General Directorate of Traffic, in 2022 alone, 42 people lost their lives due to this reason. With the regulatory change, Spain joins other European countries, such as the United Kingdom, which have eliminated the use of triangles on expressways.

It is important to note that the use of the V16 light will not be mandatory until January 1, 2026. The DGT recommends that drivers opt for the V16 signal as a safe option.

The operation of the V16 Hero Driver LED light is very simple, they are turned on by pressing the top button and easily attached to the roof using a magnet. These lights provide visibility of up to 1 kilometer, even in rainy conditions. Their implementation contributes to making roads safer and avoids the risk associated with getting out of the vehicle to place emergency triangles. It is important to note that the V16 lights are not only an alternative to emergency triangles, but also comply with current regulations.

In short, the new DGT regulations eliminate the obligation of emergency triangles on highways and motorways as of July 1, 2023. However, the use of signaling devices or V16 Lights is recommended, Ryme Automotive offers a solution with its V16 Hero Driver LED Light, a safe and efficient alternative.
