In an unexpected turn of events, the month of September has seen a decline in truck registrations, marking a significant turnaround after several months of steady growth. Statistics reveal a less optimistic picture for the ninth month of the year. According to data compiled by Anfac, Ganvam and Faconauto, a total of 1.705 truck registrations were recorded in September, representing a decrease of 12.2% compared to the same period last year.
Volvo FH Range Regains Leadership
The highlight in this context is the recovery of Volvo's FH range as the sales leader, with an impressive total of 252 units sold. For several months, the Iveco S-Way had maintained its position at the top of the rankings. This competition reflects market dynamics and changing consumer preferences.
DAF FT range and Iveco S-Way on the podium
In second place is the DAF FT range, with a solid performance of 228 deliveries. The podium is completed by the Iveco S-Way in third position, with a total of 199 units sold. Both models continue to be popular choices in the truck market.
Slowdown in the Truck Sector
The overall decline in truck registrations in September indicates a slowdown in the sector. This trend is reflected in a 12.2% decrease in heavy truck sales and an even more significant 57.8% decrease in light commercial vehicle sales compared to September 2022.
The Annual Accumulation Shows Positive Figures
Despite the drop in sales in September, the year-to-date remains very positive. Between January and September, a total of 20,287 new trucks have been sold, representing a remarkable growth of 23.8% compared to the previous year. This growth extends to all segments, with tractors leading the market with 12,893 units sold and an increase of 11.7%. In addition, light commercial vehicles, medium commercial vehicles and rigid heavy commercial vehicles also show solid growth in their respective categories.
Buses and Coaches Experience a Resurgence
On the other hand, in the bus and coach segment, the situation is very different. Last September, a total of 633 units were registered, representing an impressive increase of 54.8% compared to September 2022. In total, this segment totals 2,762 vehicles sold, representing a spectacular increase of 53.4% compared to the first nine months of the previous year. This demonstrates the strong boom in tourism after a difficult period for these companies, with a 65.1% increase in bus and coach operations.
Despite the slowdown in September, overall figures remain encouraging, indicating that the truck industry remains strong and resilient in the current environment. The truck and commercial vehicle market continues to be an important driver in the automotive world.
