AERVI Annual Report: Average Age of Industrial Vehicles

The Spanish Association of Industrial Vehicles (AERVI), in collaboration with AutoInfor, has presented its annual report. According to the report, the average age of industrial vehicles (IV) in Spain is 13,5 years in 2024. Although this figure is high, it is slightly lower than that of passenger cars, whose average is 13,6 years.

Distribution by Age of Industrial Vehicles

The detailed analysis of the report shows that almost half of the commercial vehicles, 47,56%, are more than 15 years old. In contrast, only 21,28% of the IVEs are between 0 and 5 years old, and 19,4% are between 6 and 10 years old. These data underline the urgent need to renew older vehicles in order to reduce polluting emissions.

Geographical Distribution of Industrial Vehicles

In terms of geographical distribution, Andalusia, Catalonia and the Community of Madrid represent 43,17% of the total industrial vehicle fleet in Spain. Madrid stands out not only for having the highest number of industrial vehicles, but also for having the lowest average age, with an average of 11 years.

Importance of Maintaining an Aging Park

Carlos Martín, Secretary General of AERVI, emphasized the importance of properly maintaining such an aging vehicle fleet. "Good maintenance not only ensures road safety but also reduces environmental impact," he stressed.

Diesel Dominance and Low Adoption of Sustainable Technologies

98,34% of the commercial vehicle fleet is diesel, while the adoption of sustainable technologies, such as electric and hybrid vehicles, remains minimal, at 0,07% and 0,06% respectively. Among the brands, IVECO and Renault are the most widely used in the VI market. IVECO has a strong presence in vehicles from 0 to 10 years old, while Renault predominates in the older segments.
