The year 2024 has started with a vigorous boost in the industrial vehicle sector, evidencing the robustness that already characterized the previous year. According to reports from Anfac, Ganvam and Faconauto, the first month of the year has seen a notable growth of 10,4% in industrial vehicle registrations, reaching a total of 3.052 units sold compared to the same period of the previous year.
Performance Breakdown
It is crucial to highlight the disparity in performance between trucks and buses during this period. While truck registrations have seen solid growth of 12,1%, totalling 2.773 units sold, buses have faced red figures. In particular, medium-sized trucks (+21,1% and 321 registrations) and heavy-duty trucks (+13,3% and 2.390 registrations) have led the increase in sales.

Positive dynamics in specific segments
Within the heavy truck segment, rigid trucks continue their rise with an impressive 20% increase compared to January last year, reaching a total of 499 registered units. In addition, tractors have also experienced significant growth of 11,6%, with 1.891 operations. Although light industrial vehicles have experienced a decrease of 37,4%, this decline has been offset by positive performance in other segments.
Challenges in the bus sector
In contrast to the positive performance in the truck segment, the bus sector has started the year with a slight decline of 4,1%, totalling 279 registrations. However, this decrease is mainly attributed to the minibus channel, which has experienced a significant drop of 22,8% with just 44 registrations. In contrast, sales of buses and coaches have remained stable, closing the month with 235 transactions and a slight increase of 0,4%.
Conclusions and Perspectives
The strong start to 2024 in commercial vehicle registrations, especially in the truck sector, suggests continued optimism for the industry. Despite some challenges in the bus segment, the overall positive dynamics reflect solid demand in the market. Experts look forward to how these trends will evolve over the year, noting the importance of adapting to changing market conditions to maximise growth opportunities.
