Commercial vehicles equipped with proactive safety measures have 40% fewer collisions than those that do not use them, according to the report "In the driver's shoes: we accelerate ROI with precise data analysis" prepared by Geotab. It is estimated that more than 3.500 collisions could have been prevented by 2023 if more commercial vehicles had adopted these safety features. Spain leads the way in the increase in the number of kilometres travelled per collision with 970.000 km (+5,66%), which indicates better safety measures and fewer accidents compared to countries such as Italy (+5,25%), Germany (-27,3%) or the United Kingdom (-19,12%).
Efficiency and Sustainability in Fleet Management
Proactive safety measures include a predictive safety score that uses behavioral data and machine learning to assess the likelihood of a collision. Hundreds of telematics data from vehicles are also analyzed to identify patterns that have led to errors in the past. Reducing unnecessary idling is crucial for sustainable fleet management. According to Geotab’s report, both the U.S. and Canadian vehicles analyzed have managed to reduce their idling times from 2022 to 2023. Proper maintenance and predictive analytics not only ensure safe and efficient fleet operations, but can also improve fuel efficiency by 5% to 10% for Class 8 trucks.

Spain experienced a 25% increase in the adoption of electric commercial vehicles in 2023 compared to 2022.
