MAN is introducing two revolutionary new features to its truck range: the PredictiveDrive system and the PowerMatic automatic transmission, solutions that promise to optimise fuel consumption and improve the driving experience. These innovations are designed for transport professionals seeking maximum efficiency and performance.
PredictiveDrive: intelligent optimization of fuel consumption
The PredictiveDrive system is an advanced complement to EfficientCruise, MAN's cruise control system. Now, with PredictiveDrive, greater efficiency is achieved especially on steep slopes, where the system analyses the route up to three kilometres ahead to select the most suitable speed and gear shift strategy. Thanks to this technology, fuel consumption can be reduced by up to 1%, while also improving the average speed on the road and reducing the number of gear changes, which positively impacts the durability of the drivetrain.
Available on D38 and D26 engines, this system remains active in Efficiency and Efficiency+ driving modes and allows driving without cruise control, giving the driver flexibility in using the accelerator. It also uses data from the maps and the front camera to interpret the environment and save fuel on specific stretches.
PowerMatic: the new automatic gearbox for TGM and TGL
The second new product from MAN is PowerMatic, an automatic transmission with torque converter, ideal for distribution and municipal transport applications in TGM and TGL models. With 8 forward speeds and 1 reverse speed, PowerMatic stands out for its smooth gear shifting and acceleration performance, ensuring comfortable and precise driving.
This gearbox adapts to Efficiency driving mode for a quiet and comfortable ride or to Performance mode, in which the engine maintains its maximum power. With other modes available such as Collect, Emergency, Maneuver, Individual and Offroad, PowerMatic is positioned as a flexible solution adapted to different transport needs.
Additional innovations in the MAN TGX 2024
The new MAN TGX 2024 also features improvements to its display, with a revamped driving assistant menu and an updated design for the suspension control. In addition, the MAN BrakeMatic braking system allows control to be maintained on demanding descents, using the appropriate braking power to ensure safe and controlled driving.
