Less than 0,8% of trucks registered in 2024 are electric

The commercial vehicle market in Spain shows that electrification remains a major challenge. In 2024, only 0,77% of registered trucks were electric, reflecting the difficulty of incorporating this technology into heavy transport.

The challenge of electrification in the truck sector

According to data from Aedive, during 2024, 249 electric trucks were registered in Spain, compared to 32.140 units in the total industrial vehicle market. This highlights the barriers that the sector faces in adopting electromobility, from charging infrastructure to the high initial costs of electric vehicles.

Electric medium trucks: a small step forward

Within the medium truck segment, there is a significant growth of 360,9% compared to the previous year, with a total of 106 registrations in 2024. Despite this progress, they represent only 2,5% of the total 4.236 units of this type of truck.

Electric heavy trucks: a long way to go

The electric heavy-duty truck segment faces even more challenges. With only 143 registrations, these vehicles represent 0,52% of the 27.088 units registered in 2024. The greater technical complexity and higher costs associated with these vehicles limit their adoption.

Electric vans are also losing ground

The electric van sector is also showing no significant progress. In 2024, 6.025 units were registered, which represents a 17,2% drop compared to 2023. This represents less than 3% of the total 214.927 light vehicle registrations in the year.
