Trailer and semi-trailer market in Spain: growth or decline?

In the transport sector, the dynamism of truck registrations during the first ten months of the year contrasts with the uncertainty that persists in the trailer and semi-trailer market. The Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Trailers, Semi-trailers, Tankers and Similar Vehicles (Asfares) reports that, although October saw a 1,77% increase in registrations, reaching 1.613 units, the annual cumulative figure reflects a decrease of 3,95%, with 11.992 units registered.

Within this dynamic, vans emerge as growth leaders, exhibiting an impressive increase of 33,7%, with 591 units registered until October. Tarpaulin and semi-tarpaulin vans also contribute positively to the market, showing an increase of 4,8%, with 4.150 registrations.

However, several subsectors face significant challenges. Reefer trucks experienced a 14,3% drop, totalling 3.407 units, while tipper trucks recorded a 16% decrease, with 1.103 units registered. The figures also reveal notable declines in container (-13,1%) and tanker (-12,5%) registrations during the first ten months of the year.

Amidst this mixed scenario, three major players are consolidating their leading positions. Lecitrailer is experiencing growth of 6,8%, with a total of 3.065 units registered. Schmitz Cargobull is following the positive trend with an increase of 8,6%, reaching 2.338 units. Krone stands out as the growth leader, with an impressive increase of 25,8%, totalling 1.257 registrations.

Looking further ahead, Koegel recorded the highest percentage increase, with a remarkable 41,9% growth in registrations up to October. In contrast, Lamberet suffered a significant drop of 62,1%, falling below 100 registered units.

This detailed analysis of the trailer and semi-trailer market highlights the complexity of the current landscape, with challenges and opportunities for key players. As the sector evolves, the industry is faced with the task of adapting to changing market demands and trends.
