New Signage for Roadside Assistance Vehicles

As of July 1, 2021, the new RD 159/2021 that regulates roadside assistance operations on public roads requires that all roadside assistance vehicles carry three signs: V-2, V-23 and V-24.

Article 5. Assistance vehicles.

Roadside assistance vehicles carrying out assistance operations must comply with all the requirements of the sectorial legislation applicable to them, especially those set out in the General Vehicle Regulations.

The assistance operator must ensure that, at all times, the assistance vehicle has all the elements established in this royal decree and other applicable regulations.

All vehicles must be provided with the following signs in accordance with the provisions of Annex XI of the General Vehicle Regulations:
a) V-2.
b) V-23.
c) V-24.

Four. Section 6 is added to sign V-2 Vehicle-obstacle on the road, in Annex XI "Signs on vehicles", with the following content:
«6. Assistance vehicles on public roads shall be equipped with retroreflective markings as defined above, on one third of the available front, side and rear surface of the assistance vehicle, depending on its configuration.»
