Volvo Launches the FH Aero: Greater Fuel Efficiency and Aerodynamic Advances

Volvo Aero Electric

Volvo has taken a bold step towards efficiency with the launch of the FH Aero, an innovative range that promises to be up to 5% more fuel efficient than the current model. The aerodynamically improved cab, designed in accordance with recent European mass and dimension regulations, features a 240 mm front protrusion. According to the manufacturer, this detail contributes significantly to improved efficiency, as well as providing stability in windy conditions.

The FH Aero, which will be gradually introduced to markets between 2024 and 2025, will be available in four versions: FH Aero, FH Aero Electric, FH Aero gas and FH16 Aero. All will be easily identifiable thanks to the more prominent position of the Volvo Iron Mark and the word ‘VOLVO’ spaced across the front of the cab.

The aerodynamic improvements don’t stop there. Volvo has implemented its camera monitoring system, replacing conventional mirrors with cameras and screens, further contributing to the FH Aero’s aerodynamic efficiency.

Additionally, the FH Aero features enhancements to Volvo’s I-See technology, updated brakes with patented drag-free discs and a new tire monitoring service via Volvo Connect.

Convenience for drivers has also been enhanced, with an improved infotainment system, a higher-quality sound system and a new integrated navigation system. Drivers will also enjoy an integrated microwave and USB-C power sockets.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, commented: “The new Volvo FH Aero is our most efficient truck yet as we continue to reduce CO2 emissions across our entire product range. This is Volvo at its best – a safe, beautifully engineered, premium truck for tough long-haul duties, designed for the success of our customers.”

Despite the launch of the FH Aero, the current Volvo FH range will continue to be available for sale alongside the new FH Aero offering.
